Queens, NY death metal band Footage of a Yeti released their new EP Purging the Human Conditions in late January. I'm going to start out by simply saying that this album is awesome. I was guilty of being one of those metalcore kids in high school, but now I listen to mostly death metal. This band took some of the coolest elements from both genres and managed to put together an incredible album. Sound wise, the album includes a lot of the key techniques for both genres: tremolo picking, breakdowns, some ambient background sounds, and fast paced riffing.
